About Me

A photo of Nationally Acclaimed Métis Nature Artist Tracey Lee Green.

Chi-miigwech, a Big Thank you for stopping in ❤️

I didn’t decide to become an artist, I have simply always known I was one. As a young child I drew wildlife, as a young adult, I was inspired and in love with Nature and our Environment. I felt the need to advocate and protect what I held so dear and went on to receive two College diplomas and become a Terrain & Water Specialist. As an adult, I became a self sustaining “back to the land”er. Always painting, always drawing, always creating, while always keeping my toe dipped into the Environmental Industry through volunteering on Municiple Advisory Councils.
My loose, flowing style, yet poignant portraits of Wildlife really came to pass when I came back to acrylics 8 years ago. It suits my desire for play by layering and building transparent, wet washes and juicy passages on Yupo paper. Yupo is a non absorbent ground, the paint and paper resist each other allowing for, and creating random organic flowing passages that I adore. These unique properties really let me play with contrasting lost and found edges. I seldom use reference photos anymore, instead relying on my 50+ years of viewing experience to give an impression of the spirit of Wildlife and Nature. I am pushing the boundary of my mark making through the use of sinewy pencil lines, contemplative white space, lost edges, and neutralized colour pallets. My work has always been organic and inspired by Nature. I’ve used, and won multiple awards, in all mediums (even metal sculpture), at every level of Art competition. I’ve been blessed to have my work featured on television and in magazines
I’m striving to bring a fresh contemporary view to a subject that has been painted since the birth of man. I truly hope my artwork allows you to pause and think of this beautiful world of ours.
