My mixed media paintings are rooted in a deep connection to the natural world—its rhythms, quiet intelligence, resilience and untamed beauty. Through layered media, abstract shapes and expressive marks, I create work that moves between observation and interpretation, allowing suggestion to matter as much as detail.
Experimentation is central to my practice. I push and layer materials, allowing spontaneity, unexpected marks and imperfections to remain visible within the finished work. Each painting becomes a conversation between intention and intuition, the recognizable and the abstract.
In recent years, I have begun incorporating Ojibwe language into my work as part of an ongoing exploration of my maternal Anishinaabe heritage. Words are chosen for their relationship to the work and often emerge from the emotional landscape surrounding a painting or series. They become another layer within the composition—sometimes visible, sometimes obscured, carrying meaning without needing to explain everything.
My background as a formally trained Terrain & Water Specialist continues to influence the way I observe the landscape. Plants, water, birds and wildlife are not simply subjects to paint; they are part of an interconnected natural system that I have spent much of my life observing.
That lifelong fascination has resulted in a practice spanning more than twenty-five years and works held in private collections in Canada and internationally. My work has received awards and has been featured in television, print and other media.
I continue to work from my studio in Ontario, creating mixed media paintings that explore relationship, memory and belonging within the natural world—and the traces, both physical and emotional, that we leave within it.
