I teach Art workshops at The Haliburton School of Art & Design in the stunning village of Haliburton, Ontario. It’s a fantastic facility of Fleming College, complete with Art Supply/book store, hiking trails, residences, sculpture forest, and everything needed to fire up your creativity in a magical setting. I’m offering you a few different workshops to choose from;
Weekly Wednesday Evenings 6:30 pm – 9 pm, April 2 – May 7, 2025. MIXED MEDIA & COLLAGE OPEN STUDIO. Continuing Education Join me each Wednesday evening as we explore methods of creating art using water based paints, inks, pigment blocks, pastels, collage papers and more. I will guide you while sharing my simple and proven, principles of colour, design, and composition to complete works of Art that you are sure to love and cherish. Saturday June 21, 2025. GELLI PLATE – ABSTRACT EXPRESSIONISM WORKSHOP. Course Code ARTS2855 section 41. Many Artists love using Gelli plates for their fun, spontaneous mark making on unorthodox papers and materials! You can create amazing textures and colour fields for hand made collage papers, but why stop there? Join me and let’s take these explorations to finished paintings!! Spend a Saturday with me and I will teach you my trouble shooting process for creating finished paintings from Gelli print explorations. You won’t be disappointed and will have tons of fun! Monday June 23 – Friday June 27, 2025. PAINTING WILD BIRDS Course Code ARTS2666 section 41 Do you like Bird Watching and/or feeding our Wild birds? I do, and I share my love of our Wild Birds with you as I teach you how to paint them with Acrylics on Yupo paper. Yupo paper is a non absorbent paper made from recycled plastic, allowing the paint to sit on top and be manipulated with different tools. Join me as I teach you what to look for when painting from reference photos, living things, and how to create an amazing bird painting you will cherish! I supply everything you need, you just need to show up in an apron, with a pencil! The perfect opportunity for any creative looking to explore Yupo paper and its properties. Saturday July 26, 2025. WATERCOLOUR EFFECTS WITH ACRYLICS WORKSHOP Course Code ARTS2678 section 41 Join me for one full day of Acrylic fun while we mimic Watercolour effects! I spent 12 years painting in Watercolours, I loved the transparency and glow but hated that some colours lifted so easily, muddied so fast and dried too quickly!! I’ve painted in Acrylics for the past 10 years and love that I can make them look exactly like Watercolours. We will delve into paint transparency, colour theory, and water vs acrylic mediums while also learning the basics of fluidity on canvas, paper and board. You will have the opportunity to try different supports and can paint any subject you like. The result will be a glowing, flowing painting that you will be proud to frame. Saturday August 9, 2025. Art Commerce, What’s Next? Course Code ARTS2869 section 41. You’ve worked hard, created artwork that you’re proud of and think maybe I should start showing or selling my work? Spend the day with me and I will share the in’s and out’s of exhibitions vs shows vs fairs, curated galleries vs public, and dealing with multiple mediums. I will share some critical lessons I’ve learned along the way. You will finish the day with a greater understanding of the questions you will want to ask yourself, curators and show organizers to ensure that you are getting exactly what you want and need for success in your journey.
